Electrolux 700XP 371173 vs Falcon G3101 – Battle of the 6 Burners
July 2nd, 2013Ever wondered what would happen if the Electrolux 700XP 371173 and the Falcon G3101 came to life and entered the ring together for 12 rounds to determine the Heavyweight Champion 6 Burner? Well, we’ve made that happen! We’ve looked at every feature of both ovens and compared them, showing you – the buyer – the best features of each and how they differentiate. Here’s our results:
Round 1: Temperature Range
Electrolux makes a strong start in the first round as the temperature range of the 700XP 371173 (110 – 300ºC) far outweighs that of the Falcon G3101 (120 – 270ºC), giving you that extra movement for cooking at either a lower or higher temperature and improving yield.
Round 2: Burner Efficiency/BTUs
Electrolux 700XP 371173 – 143,178 btu/hour
Falcon G3101 – 133,068 btu/hour
Despite the Falcon G3101 weighing in at 122kg and the Electrolux 700XP 371173 measuring just 106kg on the scales, it’s the Electrolux that proved the strongest in the second round. Electrolux also pulled out their signature move – the Flower Flame Technology – which means less energy is wasted when the machine is in use with either small or large pans.
Round 3: Construction & Cooking Top
A close round here as the Electrolux 700XP 371173 reveals it’s constructed using Laser Cutting and Welding, whilst the Falcon G3101 kept it’s guard and decided not to release the information. With the round coming to an end, Electrolux made a move on the Falcon by revealing their Single Pressed Stainless Steel Sheet Cooking Top – opposed to the Falcon Semi-Sealed Stainless Pressed Cooking Top – meaning the Electrolux 700XP 371173 has no dirt traps which reduces cleaning time at the end of the day. It also allows you to fill the reservoir at the base with water to prevent baked on foodstuffs!
Round 4: Oven Cavity
The Electrolux 700XP 371173 stayed strong using Enamelled Steel – a very robust and corrosion resistant material that is designed to last whilst being more hygienic – compared to the Vitreous Enamel of the Falcon G3101. The experts amongst us pointed out that the reason the Falcon G3101 couldn’t compete with the Electrolux 700XP 371173 was due to the fact Vitreous Enamel can be found in most domestic ovens and often tends to crack.
Round 5: Pan Support
An even round as Falcon pulled back, with both pan supports being made of Cast Iron.
Round 6: Dimensions
Electrolux 700XP 371173 – W900 x D730 x H850mm
Falcon G3101 – W900 x D770 x H890mm
Slimmer and smaller yet more powerful than the Falcon G3101, the Electrolux 700XP 371173 showed it was able to squeeze into places the Falcon couldn’t.
Round 7: Burner Power Output
Electrolux 700XP 371173 – 6 x 5.5kW
Falcon G3101 – 6 x 5.3kW
Round 8: Over Power
Electrolux 700XP 371173 – 9kW
Falcon G3101 – 7.2kW
The Electrolux 700XP 371173 takes both Round 7 and 8 for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the Flower Flame Technology is over 65% more efficient in comparison to the efficiency of the Falcon G3101 which reaches about 50% efficiency. The power also means the Electrolux pre-heats quicker and has a better heat recovery when the door is open, saving the user both time and money in the long run.
Round 9: Shelf Positions
Falcon pulls a round back as the G3101 has 5 shelf positions whereas the Electrolux 700XP 371173 only has 3, making the Falcon a bit more flexible in terms of cooking positions.
Round 10: Oven Internal Dimensions
Electrolux 700XP 371173 – W760 x D540 x H390mm.
Falcon G3101 – W700 x D535 x H430mm.
Although the Falcon G3101 has slightly higher and deeper internal dimensions, the Electrolux 700XP 371173 is much wider. It all depends on how much space you’re looking for, but we’re calling this round a draw.
Round 11: Working Height
Electrolux 700XP 371173 – Standard: 850mm, Feet/Castors: 900mm.
Falcon G3101 – Standard: 890mm, Feet/Castors: 890mm.
We can’t really separate the two ovens in this round, with the Falcon being slightly higher on the standard model but the Electrolux slightly higher with feet/castors. Again, we’re calling this round a draw.
Round 12: Warranty
Electrolux 700XP 371173 – 2 YEARS PARTS AND LABOUR WARRANTY.
Falcon G3101 – 1 YEARS PARTS AND LABOUR WARRANTY.
Electrolux takes the final round, with the 700XP 371173 having an extra years warranty over the G3101, giving you that extra peace of mind.
So, overall, the Electrolux 700XP 371173 is a clear winner by 9 round to 1 with 2 draws, showing how superior the machine is in comparison the the Falcon G3101. So if it’s a six burner you’re looking for, look no further than the Electrolux 700XP 371173.
