Product of the Week – Fracino PID Coffee Machine
February 18th, 2014This weeks product of the week is the new state-of the-art Coffee Machine: the PID Range, or in other words, Proportional Intergral Derivitive. Made in Birmingham, UK, with world-class engineers using extensive research and state-of-the-art production methods. The Fracino PID Range offers a wide range of control and diagnostic features, most of which are controlled by an easy-to-use LCD panel on the front of the machine:
- Each group has an independent boiler for optimum temperature control, settable between 80 – 115ºC. This allows, for example, one group to be set to 90ºC and another to be set at 95ºC whilst still maintaining the standard boiler for water and steam.
- Programmable pre-infusion times.
- Electric hot water valve with programmable dispensing time.
- Programmable shot volumes and built in shot timer.
- LCD display showing current group temperatures, steam boiler temperature, time, machine status / diagnostics.
- Drinks counter per group.
- Program to show the number of shots served before a service is required.
- Water volume usage.
- Program to show the amount of water showed before a filter needs replaced.
- Latte and cappuccino foam consistency adjustment.
- Programmable milk temperatures.
- Colour and language of the LCD screen can be changed.
Stylish yet simple, the PID Range – which has either 2 (PID2) or 3 (PID3) group heads, hot water outlets fitted with anti-splash nozzles and steam tubes for milk frothing – offers an array of control and diagnostic features to create the perfect espresso over and over again. The PID Machines have a number of key features:
- Top quality copper boiler heated by multiple looped element.
- Pressure controlled by a triple contact pressure switch.
- Automatic water level system with a probe, electronic control unit and solenoid valve.
- The pressure of water and steam is separately controlled by brass safety valves.
- Groups have a clearance of 120mm to allow for 10oz takeaway cups & 8oz latte glasses.
- Case, waste & cup tray all made from stainless steel 304.
- Brass bodied group with stainless steel shower plate, solenoid valve and high pressure rotary pump.
- Independent group boilers – nickel plated brass.
- Automatic on/off timer – machine can be set to turn on & off at set times.
- F.A.S.T steam system (on right) which can be used at the same time as the groups.
- Manual steam valves (on left) which can be used at the same time as the groups.
- Dual pressure gauge showing water & steam pressure.
As well as all these features, there is some important technical information on the Fracino PID Range. Firstly, both machines are 585mm high and 550mm deep, with the PID2 having a width of 800mm and the PID3 having a width of 1045mm. Secondly, the boiler capacity of the PID2 is 14 litres whilst the PID3 has a capacity of 20 litres. In terms of coffee production, the PID2 can produce 240 cups of cappuccino per hour (400 cups of espresso) , with the PID3 being able to produce 360 cups of cappuccino (600 cups of espresso). As with the coffee production, it is also the case with hot water per hour that the PID3 has a larger output of 100 litres, with the PID2 having an output of 60/80 litres. Finally, and rather importantly, are the electrical ratings of each machine: 6.2kW / 30A for the Fracino PID2 and 8.3kW / 45A for the Fracino PID3.
