When you go to a restaurant or a café, you expect to be served food and drink of the best quality ingredients. So why wouldn’t that apply to the most commonly used ingredient of them all? Water!
UK Mains water is pumped full of chlorine to ensure it’s safe for us to drink – it basically kills all the creepy crawlies that would potentially make us really ill, however once it’s done its job, it leaves behind the horrible bleachy taste we all know too well.
Basic water filtration removes this – by running water through carbon, it removes any taste and odours from the water, meaning your water will taste cleaner and more ‘fresh’.
In some areas of the UK we have what’s called ‘hard’ water (check your area), which is where there’s particularly high levels of calcium carbonate dissolved into the water. This can sometimes been seen as small, floating particles within a beverage and upon heating will leave behind powdery deposits in your appliance. This reduces effectiveness off the machine itself, meaning more energy has to be used to power it, there’s an increased chance of down time due to it being scaled up and all of that means money!
By reducing the amount of lime-scale within the water, it means your machine is less prone to down time, descaling and servicing. Improved taste and maintaining the effectiveness of your appliance – what more could you want!?
We have a range of water filtration kits for use on coffee/vending machines, ice machines and combination ovens.
When ordering your appliance, just take a look at the water hardness map and check the ‘PPM’ (parts per million) in your area.
If you’re lucky enough to have a water hardness of 180PPM or below, we recommend you use a ‘Soft Water Filter Kit’ – this will just remove taste and odour as there’s not enough scale in your water to warrant it being reduced.
If you’re living in an area that’s 180PPM or over, we strongly recommend you purchase a filtration kit. You’re more susceptible to your machine clogging up with scale – we can treat this with any of our Claris or Claris ULTRA kits (ULTRA kits are for coffee machines ONLY) and Claris kits are for Combination ovens only., – if you’re unsure as to what you need, feel free to call us on:
